                                           Robert H. Parr

    CRESTLINE: Robert H. Parr, Sr., 89, of 312 West Thrush Ave.,
Crestline, died Friday, July 22,2011 at Heartland of Bucyrus.

    Bob was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on July 20, 1922 to the late Charles
and Rosalind (Unkefer) Parr. He married Martha J. Holcker on July 25,
1948 at the German Reformed Church in Crestline and she preceded him on
July 8, 2008.

    Bob graduated from
Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington,
D.C., and Ohio University, Athens. Bob managed the Holcker Hardware
Store in Crestline from 1955 until he and his wife Martha purchased the
store in 1964. Bob and Marty retired in 1988. He was a member of Calvary
United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #488, V.F.W. Post #2920,
Crestline Lion's Club, Galion Lodge #414, Free and Accepted Masons,
Crestline Investors Investment Club, volunteered with the Boy Scouts, was
a life-time member and served on the Walton Lake Board of Directors,
Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859.

    First Lieutenant Robert H. Parr, 3rd Army, 417 Infantry, 76 Division,
Anti-Tank Co., Mine Platoon was first committed after the Battle of the
Bulge, and fought in France, Luxembourg and Germany. He ended the War
at Triebes, Germany when the Russian Army arrived. Bob was awarded the
Bronze Star for leading a squad in a night action to mine an intersection
under enemy fire. Bob was very proud to have served his country in the
U.S. Army Infantry during World War II.

    He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Eileen Parr,
Jr., Crestline, and his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Greg Bigam,
Circleville, four grandchildren; Melissa (Jeremy) Stahley, Brian (Nicole)
Bigam, Matthew Bigam, Kathy (Jake) Speck, six great grandchildren; Hailey
Speck, Jonah Speck, Josie Speck, Maddux Bigam, Lydia Stahley, and
Glavine Bigam.

    The family will receive friends on Monday July 25, 2011, from 11 :00
am to 1 :00 pm at Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline where a
Memorial Service will be held at 1 :00 pm with Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Kline
officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline, where full
military honors will be given by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion
Veterans Groups.

    Memorial contributions may be to the V.F.W. Post #2920 in care of the
funeral home.
