Johnnie L. Parker Sr., 56, a Washington resident who had been an
independent contractor building homes and churches in the area,
died Feb. 10 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata of congestive
heart failure and pneumonia.
Mr. Parker was a machinist at the Naval Surface Warfare Center
from 1970 to 1983 before serving seven years as vice president of
New Concept Manufacturing in Waldorf. The company, owned by his
then-wife, made prototypes of experimental hardware for government
clients.
Johnnie Lane Parker was a native Washingtonian and a 1970
graduate of Wilson High School. His marriage to Deborah Robinson
Parker ended in divorce.
Survivors include three sons, Johnnie L. Parker Jr. of Lusby, Dana A.
Parker of Burke and Kevin T. Parker of Waldorf; a sister, Joyce
Plummer of Temple Hills; and a grandson.
