Jennifer Sanger Griffin







                            JENNIFER SANGER GRIFFIN  
                            February 23, 1941 - June 8, 2011  

     Passed away peacefully at Casey House, Montgomery County Hospice,
with her husband, Michael N. Griffin, and daughter, Robin Winone Griffin,
at her bedside.

     Jennifer was born and raised in Washington D.C. She lived most of her
life in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of the District and in Bethesda, MD
and graduated from
Woodrow Wilson High School in the District in 1958.
A 1962 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle IN, Jennifer became
the Director of teen-age programs for the YWCA in Worcester, MA in that
year. She later worked in human resources for American Standard Company
in New York City. In 1965, she returned to the District to serve as the
Director of Volunteer Selection for the Africa Region of the Peace Corps
and later served in the Peace Corps with her husband in the Republic of
Lesotho, Southern Africa, until 1969. She worked for Altman
Productions/NBC's It's Academic Program in the early 1970s, and served
for more than 15 years as an Administrative Assistant in the Montgomery
County Public School system-her last assignment at Carderock Springs
Elementary School.

     For the past five years, she worked for the White House
Correspondents Association. She held membership in Calvary Baptist
Church, Washington, D.C. and Chevy Chase United Methodist Church,
MD. At Chevy Chase UMC, she served in many capacities including several
years as Sunday School Superintendent.

     In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by her
brother-in-law, Dr. Steven A. Griffin; her sister-in-law, Barbara A. Griffin;
and their children, Dr. Gabrielle Griffin, Andrea Griffin-Chahid, and Lindy
Coleman; her Uncle Frederick Moury; and many cousins.

     A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. on Friday, June
17 at Chevy Chase United Methodist Church.

     The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be
made to Chevy Chase United Methodist Church or to Montgomery County
Hospice.
