Jean M. Heffelfinger Smith

JEAN M. SMITH (nee Heffelfinger) Passed away suddenly on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the
INOVA Fairfax Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late James T. Smith; loving mother of
James T. Smith, Jr. and the late Jan Smith; devoted daughter of the late Marion and Ross
Heffelfinger; loving sister of Joan (Bob) Jensen, Jane (Rick) Elrod, Judy (Tom) Lock, and John
(Trisha) Heffelfinger; devoted aunt of nine nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews. Jean was
a native Washingtonian who graduated from the Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947. She served
as a director for the American Statistical Association for many years prior to her retirement. Family
and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Demaine
Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA 22151. A service to honor Jean's life will follow in
the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will take place immediately after at the Arlington National
Cemetery. Donations may be made in Jean's memory to Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Inc.
