Jane Alexis Kidder Bowen was born in
Washington, D.C. on May 17, 1928, to
Edmund James Kidder and Phyllis Wilson
Kidder. She died in San Marcos, California,
on February 7, 2012.
Jane spent her childhood in a typical
Navy life tradition, traveling from coast to
coast. She lived in Annapolis, MD, Manhasset,
NY, San Diego, and found happiness as a
teenager in Long Beach, California. She
graduated from Wilson High School and
Long Beach City College. In 1951, she married
Brettel W. Bowen (Bert) and they raised three children: Scott, Jennifer, and
Beth Ann. Upon Bert's death in 1997, she moved to Lake San Marcos
where she was active in the Art League, Knitting, Bunco and Bridge.
She was predeceased by her parents, Captain and Mrs. E. J. Kidder;
her husband, Bert; and infant child, Mary Beth. She is survived by her
sister, Mary Kidder Chilcot of Long Beach; son, Scott and wife Lorraine of
San Clemente; daughter, Jennifer McAfee and husband Hank of San
Marcos; daughter, Beth Ann Parkin and husband Gregory of Long Beach;
grandchildren, Eric Bowen; Natalie Kelly; Caitlin, Courtney, and Connor
Parkin; Hailey and Mallory McAfee.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11 am at
St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1147 Discovery St., San Marcos, CA 92069.
