| 2006 George Jackson Ament, 52, a carpenter specializing in home renovations, died Aug. 17 at George Washington University Hospital after a heart attack. He lived in Washington. Mr. Ament, who was born in the District, attended Woodrow Wilson High School, Sandy Spring Friends School and the University of Maryland. For the past 11 years, he had worked with Carson Associates, a home remodeling company in the District. He had previously worked with Gillday Builders, Kensington Construction Co. and Ament Blaufarb Correccio Construction Co. Mr. Ament was well known in Dupont Circle as a chess player and card shark. He was a devoted reader of nonfiction and a liberal thinker. His marriage to Riki Schneyer ended in divorce. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Mary Noonan of Washington; a daughter from his first marriage, Renata Schneyer Ament of Takoma Park; his mother, Marion Ament of Silver Spring; two sisters, Helen Ament and Annie Ament, both of Silver Spring; and a brother, Billy Ament of Edgewater. |
