| Elaine Baum Morris, 71, an office manager in her family's office furniture business, died after a heart attack July 25 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She lived in Fairfax. |

| Mrs. Morris worked for Capitol-Baum Office Furniture in Springfield, the successor firm to the family business established by her great-grandfather Henry Baum in 1884. She briefly served as the firm's vice president before turning the company's management over to her sons. |

|
| She was a native Washingtonian and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh before returning to the Washington area. In the early 1980s, she was secretary to the vice president of the Alexandria Gazette. |

|
| Mrs. Morris was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Red Hat Society. She belonged to the Fairfax Racquet Club and enjoyed cycling, traveling and playing tennis and bridge. |

|
| She was co-captain and navigator of the family's ocean racing yacht, the Cavalier, which won more than 60 trophies under the Annapolis Yacht Club pennant. |

| Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Clyde Morris of Fairfax; three sons, John Morris of Potomac Falls, Justin Morris of Virginia Beach and Woody Morris of Fairfax; a brother, Charles Baum of Alexandria; and six grandchildren. |
