| Chester John "Chet" Pflieger, 80, an accounts manager and sales representative for a publishing company, died of emphysema Aug. 22 at his home in Simpsonville, S.C. |

| Mr. Pflieger worked for 33 years for West Publishing Co. in the Washington area, retiring in 1983. |
|
|
| Mr. Pflieger was a native Washingtonian. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Ben Franklin University in Washington. |
|
|
| He married and moved to Bethesda, then Damascus. After he retired, he moved to Columbus, N.C., and in 1989 to Greenville, S.C. |
|
|
| He was a member and past officer of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed golf and traveling abroad. |
|
|
| His marriage to Madeline Maben Pflieger ended in divorce. |
|
|
| Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Patricia Jean Taylor of Simpsonville; two children from his first marriage, Kenneth J. Pflieger of Charlotte and Frances L. Pflieger of Kensington; three stepchildren, Bennie Taylor of Gray Court, S.C., Debra Norman of Greenville, N.C., and Paula McNair of Charlotte; and 10 grandchildren. |
