

BARRY H. YOUNG On Saturday July 10, 2010, Barry H. Young passed
away from respiratory failure. He was born April 20, 1941 in Washington,
DC to Paul and Tamara Young.
He grew up at 1326 Ingraham Street, NW and spent his early days playing
basketball at Hamilton Playground. He played in the Metropolitan Police
Boys Club Band with his brothers Jeff and Bobby. He was a proud member
of the Order of the Leaf at Camp Airy. He graduated from Woodrow
Wilson High School in 1958 where he played both basketball and football.
He later attended Shepherd College, George Washington University and
completed a Masters Degree at Michigan State University in Hotel and
Restaurant Management. Some of his fondest memories were working at his
father''s restaurant, Paul Young''s, especially working the night of the John
F. Kennedy Inaugural Party in 1961.
He later moved to Columbia, MD where he opened his own restaurant,
Barry''s.
He later enjoyed a career as Senior Vice President, Director of Leasing for
the Mills Corporation. He proudly planned and executed a number of
large-scale projects across the country.
He enjoyed sculpting, shark fishing, magic, jazz, racquetball and spending
time with his family. His greatest pride was his wife, Gayle; children, Zak,
Jeremy and Missy; grandchildren, Hailey, Max, Lily and Sloane and siblings,
Laurie and Jeff.
On Saturday his family will be holding a memorial service in his honor at the
Spear Center at 10275 Little Patuxent Pkwy in Columbia, MD at 2 p.m.
