William H. McGee

William Herbert McGee, 87, the former owner and operator of McGee Co., a family business that was the Washington-region
distributor of the Executone intercom and telephone systems, died July 13 at the Hospice of Naples in Naples, Fla., after a
stroke.
Mr. McGee started the business in Washington with his father after World War II, and he retired at 65. He moved from Bethesda
to Naples in 2004.
He was born in Richmond, raised in Rocky Mount, N.C., and Washington, and was a graduate of   Western High School.
He served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II, and his decorations included the Purple Heart.
He was a former president of the Kiwanis Club of Washington and board president of Burning Tree Club in Bethesda. His other
memberships included the Jaycees, the D.C. Society for Crippled Children and what is now the Greater Washington Board of
Trade.
His wife of 51 years, Patricia Dickie McGee, died in 1999. A son, William McGee Jr., died of leukemia in 1956.
Survivors include three children, Kathleen McGee of Naples, Scott McGee of Orlando and Clark McGee of Centreville; a brother;
and four grandchildren.
