

RUTH ELLIS BARRY JONES b. April 17, 1921 in New Orleans, LA
d. April 30, 2010 in Seminole, FL.

In the 1930s she worked on Capitol Hill for
Senator Key Pittman of Nevada.
She graduated from Western High School, class of 1939.
She was employed by the General Accounting Office for 35 years. She
married Darrell Lloyd Jones December 10, 1943 while he was on leave from
the Army Air Corps. Darrell was also an employee at the GAO where after
the war he was an attorney in the Comptroller General''s office.
They were a devoted and loving couple throughout their many years in
Washington, enjoying active work, social, and community lives together.
Ruth was an active member of many organizations: The DC Daughters of
the American Revolution (over 50 years), Colonial Dames of America, DC
Daughters of Colonial Wars, United Daughters of the Confederacy,
Salvation Army, The Washington Club, Welcome to Washington Club,
Capital Speakers.
She was a member of St. Alban''s Episcopal Church and served on the
Washington Cathedral Altar Guild. She continuously gave her support to
many charitable organizations.
Beautiful Ruth E. B. Jones is survived by her beloved daughter Darrell
Landon Jones Spalding of Seminole, FL; her devoted sister Frances Helen
Barry of Bethesda, MD; two grandchildren: Robert Lloyd Spalding of
Washington, DC and Carrie Anne Ellis Spalding of Burbank, CA; son-in-law
Robert Dale Spalding and granddaughter-in-law Donna Jean Spalding.
All of us who knew her will always love her.
Services will be at St. Alban''s Church, 3001 Wisconsin Ave., NW,
Tuesday, July 6 at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
