Richard George Fletcher Jr.   

Richard George Fletcher Jr., 92, a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, died of leukemia April 18 at his home in San
Mateo, Calif., where he had lived since 1948.
He was an FBI agent for 37 years, retiring in 1972.
Mr. Fletcher, a native Washingtonian, graduated from Western High School, where he was captain of the marching band. He graduated
from Harvard University, where he played three sports and starred in basketball. He received a law degree in 1939 from George
Washington University's law school while working for the FBI.
His wife of 61 years, Mary McLaughlin, died in 2001. A daughter, Betty Ann Krahnke, a former Montgomery County Council member, died
in 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Richard G. Fletcher III of Salinas, Calif., and Stephen C. Fletcher of Union City, Calif.; nine grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.
