Phyllis Frisby Yelverton

Phyllis Frisby Yelverton, 91, a homemaker who lived in the Washington area from 1920 until 1998, died of a brain tumor Oct. 7 at her home
on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
She was born in Manila, where her father was working for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. The family returned to Washington when
she was 5, to the Georgetown home her grandfather had built in 1887.
She graduated from  Western High School and attended the Corcoran School of Art. She married in 1939 and lived in Arlington County until
1971,  when she and her family moved to London for four years. They returned in 1975 and resided in Arlington until 1998, when they moved
to Hilton Head Island.
Mrs. Yelverton was a member of the Washington Golf and Country Club.
She enjoyed golfing, traveling and cooking.
Her husband of 63 years, William Forrest Yelverton, died in 2002.
Survivors include three sons, William Frisby Yelverton of Arlington, Peter Forrest Yelverton of St. Simons, Ga., and John Converse Yelverton
of Bluffton,  S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
