Joseph V. Casamento, 78, an assistant director at the U.S. Small Business
Administration, died July 9 at Montgomery Hospice's Casey House in
Rockville of complications following hernia surgery. He was a Bethesda
resident.
Mr. Casamento joined the SBA in 1956 as a clerk after service in the Air
Force. He retired in 1989.
Joseph Victor Casamento, a native Washingtonian, was a 1947 graduate of
Western High School. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from
the old Benjamin Franklin University in 1960.
He volunteered as a mentor with SCORE, a small-business mentoring and
training program, from 1989 to 1994.
He was a Washington Redskins season ticket holder and often attended arts
events.
Survivors include a sister, Alvera Wathen of Clinton, and three brothers, Phil
Casamento of Linthicum, Sam Casamento of Washington and Frank
Casamento of Cabin John.
