Isadore I. Gittleson, 84, a retired executive with a scrap metal company, died of massive internal bleeding Jan. 31, 2005  at
Aventura medical center in North Miami Beach, Fla.
A native Washingtonian, Mr. Gittleson graduated from  Western High School and the old Benjamin Franklin College. He later
received a master's degree in business administration there.
He worked for his parents' United Grocery Store at 24th and F streets NW until 1950, when he went to work at Alexandria Scrap
Metal Corp. He rose to general manager and vice president before his retirement in 1981.
In 1978, Mr. Gittleson and his wife were given the Kesher Shem Tov award from his synagogue of almost 60 years, Ohev
Sholom Talmud Torah. He also had been a member of the Samuel Gompers/Benjamin Franklin Masonic Lodge for more than
50 years.
His wife of 47 years, Anne Torchinsky Gittleson died in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Frank Gittleson of Silver Spring, Sheldon Gittleson of North Miami Beach and Arnold Gittleson of
Baltimore; two brothers, Nate Gittleson of Bethesda and Ralph Gittleson of Potomac; 10 grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
