Frances Louise Lease Walker Marschall, 92, died
May 29 at her Annapolis home. She was born March
24, 1919, in Cumberland, to Verta Viola Smith Lease
and Richard Westley Lease.

She lived in the MacArthur Boulevard area of Washington, DC and
attended a Georgetown boarding school run by Episcopal nuns. In 1934, her
mother remarried. Her stepfather, Milton L. "Reds" Pettit, was a minor
league baseball umpire.

   After graduating from
Western High School and Maebella Honour
Beauty School (French), she worked as a beautician. In 1942, she married
John "Jack" Stanton Walker, a civil engineer. They had one daughter,
Pamela Amelia Walker. After living in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Long
Island, NY, the couple was residing in Maryland when Jack died in an auto
accident in 1962. She married Carl Marschall in 1966, and together they
renovated and managed several properties in Baltimore County. Carl died in
1974.

After living independently in Wilson Point, Middle River for 34 years, she
moved to Annapolis to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and John
Masterson. She will be remembered for her extraordinary cooking, zesty
spirit and signature red hair.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, she is also survived by two
granddaughters, Jennifer Odenwald (Peter), of Severna Park and Joanna
Masterson, of Annapolis; and three great-grandchildren, Jack, Maddy and
Peri Odenwald, all of Severna Park.
