Elizabeth C. Nolan, 94, who worked as an administrative assistant in the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General's office from 1959 to 1973, died
Dec. 19 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. The cause was arteriosclerotic vascular disease.
Mrs. Nolan was a secretary at the Department of Agriculture from 1935 to 1941
.
Elizabeth Costello Nolan was born in the District, where she graduated from Western High School in 1934 and from the Washington School
for Secretaries in 1935. She was married to Thomas Nolan, a baseball and basketball coach at Georgetown University, for 55 years until he
died in 1996.
Mrs. Nolan, a lifelong resident of Washington until she moved to Chevy Chase in 1995, was a 40-year member of Holy Trinity Catholic
Church in Northwest.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ann Nolan of Chevy Chase and Kathleen Cortese of Kensington; a granddaughter; and two
great-granddaughters.
