Catherine A. "Cay" Knockey, 92, manager of the Arena Stage theater in the
early 1960s, died of congestive heart failure May 11 at the Methodist Home
retirement community in Washington.

Ms. Knockey was an actress, director and manager at the Arena Stage in the
1950s and 1960s. She retired in the late 1960s as manager of Ford's Theatre.

Catherine Ann Knockey was a native Washingtonian and a graduate of
Western High School. She received a bachelor's degree in mathematics
from American University. She received a master's degree in drama and
theater from Catholic University.

After World War II, she worked in Japan as a director and actress in
productions for U.S. troops.

She had been a longtime Chevy Chase resident before moving to the
Methodist Home in 2005.

She had no immediate survivors.
