Ralph Edward 'Bob' Moreland, 92, a retired supervisor with the old C&P Telephone Co., died March 22 of congestive heart failure
at Capital Hospice Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington County. He had lived in Falls Church for 60 years. Mr.
Moreland was born in Washington and was a graduate of Western High School. He began working for C&P as a cable splicer
in the late 1930s and retired in 1978 as a supervisor of special services. In that position, he arranged hookups for radio and
television broadcasts.
During the 1950s, he was presented C&P's Vail Award for bravery after administering lifesaving first aid to victims of an auto
accident.
After his retirement, Mr. Moreland attended a paralegal program at George Washington University and helped his wife in her real
estate business.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Etta Moreland of Falls Church; four daughters, Christine Miller of South Riding,
Susan Roudebush of Centreville, Penelope Moreland-Gunn of Falls Church and Dr. Roberta Moreland of Leesburg; 10
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
