Howard Newel "Mike" Michelson

     Mr. Howard Newel "Mike" Michelson, 78, of Libertytown, died Sunday, June
26, 2011 at his home, with his family by his side. Born Dec. 3, 1932 in Detroit,
MI, he was the son of the late Lyle E. and Donna Dean Ward Michelson. He was
the husband of Patricia Michelson, his wife of 40 years.

     Mr. Michelson worked in newspapers all his life, starting with the Free Press in
Detroit. He later moved to Washington DC, working for Merkle Press and in 1979
he started with the Washington Post until his retirement in 2003. He was a member
of the Teamsters Union. He was an avid collector of various things and enjoyed
reading and keeping up with current news.

     Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Lyle Michelson and Kay
Michelson, both of California, James Chuck Lilly and wife, Tammy, of the home,
and Rhonda Reyes and husband, Benjamin of Hedgesville, WV; grandchildren,
Kimberly Meadows, James Howell, Anthony Graham, Emily Lilly, Ryan Jensen,
Jordan Jensen and Donavan Reyes; and great-grandchildren, Mason Meadows and
Abigail and Kensley Howell. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Susan
Howell.

     A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Hartzler
Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. Interment will be in Chapel
Cemetery, Libertytown.

     Mr. Michelson's sons and grandsons will serve as pall bearers. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, June 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.
