Harry F. Farr
Harry F. Farr Sr. of Corbin passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Mary
Washington Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, with his family at his side.
Harry was born in District Heights, Md., on April 4, 1935.
He is survived by his wife, Aura Bates-Farr; and four sons, Harry F. Farr Jr.
of Locust Grove, Charles F. Farr of Charlotte, N.C., William "Buddy" Farr of
Pompano Beach, Fla., and James "Jimmy" Farr of Amelia Island, Fla. He is also
survived by four stepsons and one stepdaughter; and five grandchildren, William
"BJ" Farr, Robert Christopher Farr, Krystal Hammond and husband Jason,
Matthew Farr and Dylan Farr; and three great-grandchildren.
Harry was predeceased by the mother of his children, Aurelia Farr, and his
second wife, Kathy Farr.
Harry was employed for 44 years by Local Union 29 Mailers. Prior to his
retirement he began a lawn and landscaping business, which was his true passion.
A second love was his affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 97 and
193 of Unionville. He is fondly remembered by the former Scouts whose lives he
touched.
A memorial service will be held a 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Round Oak
Baptist Church in Corbin. Following the service, a celebration of Harry's life will be
held at Harry and Aura's home at "Farr's Corral," across from the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the
form of memorial donations to a charity of one's choice.
