William Maynard Jarboe

William M. "John" Jarboe, 91, who owned and operated his self-named commercial printing business in Washington for the past 75 years,
died May 4 at his home in Darnestown of cancer.

In addition to his work at Jarboe Printing, he was a former president of a Lions Club chapter in Southwest Washington and the Printing
Industry of Washington, an industry organization that gave him its distinguished service award. He was a board member of Ford's Theatre
and a member of the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.

He started a scholarship fund for students studying printing at Montgomery College and donated printing equipment to the school.

William Maynard Jarboe was a third-generation Washingtonian and learned the printing trade in middle school. He graduated in 1937 from
McKinley Technical High School, where a teacher lent him $50 to buy his first printing press.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Kathleen McDermott Jarboe of Darnestown; seven children, John Jarboe of Ohiopyle Pa., Kathleen
Jarboe of McLean, Robert Jarboe of Darnestown, Stephen Jarboe of Clarksburg, Nancy Harold of Raleigh, N.C., Linda Soles of Dunbarton,
N.H., and Loretta Eby of North Potomac; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
