
William D. Flynn, USIA official

William D. Flynn, 87, who worked for the U.S. Information Agency from
1948 until retiring in 1980 as deputy chief of the general services branch, died Jan.
15 at a hospital in Tampa. He had pneumonia.
The death was confirmed by a family friend, Rafael Font.
Mr. Flynn was a Montgomery County Public Schools bus driver from 1984 to
1999. He moved six years later from Columbia to Wesley Chapel, Fla.
William Daniel Flynn was a native Washingtonian. He attended McKinley
Technical High School before serving in the Army in Alaska during World War
II. He attended Strayer College after the war.
His memberships included the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
His first marriage, to Virginia Owen, ended in divorce. His second wife, Jean
Fullarton, whom he married in 1966, died in 2003.
Survivors include a son from his first marriage, William M. Flynn of Wesley
Chapel; a stepdaughter he adopted, Tina Thompson of Tampa; a brother; six
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
