     Lawrence Schuyler McLean, "Ace," 85, a 25-year resident of Annapolis, died
Friday, April 8, 2011 at Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD.
He was born September 24, 1925 in Washington, DC. He was a corporal in the
Cadet Corps of
McKinley Tech High School where he graduated in 1944.
Lawrence immediately entered the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Wilkes
Barre, CL-103, during World War II. After his military service, Lawrence became
a District of Columbia firefighter. He is on the registry of the U.S. Navy Memorial
in Washington, DC, and was a member, and former D.C. and Maryland
representative, of the U.S. Navy Cruiser/Sailors Association. He was also a
member of the VFW, the Masons, the Emerald Society, and Heritage Baptist
Church. Lawrence was an avid Redskins fan who also enjoyed fishing and singing.

     Lawrence is surived by his wife of 59 years, Una Mae (Blackwell) McLean;
two daughters, Cynthia (Peter) Bartolomeo of Waldorf , MD, and Jennifer
(Timothy) Carnahan of Fairfax Station, VA, seven grandchildren: Melissa,
Amanda, Louisa, Carolyn, Matthew, Margaret and Angela, and five
great-grandchildren: Haley, Raelynn, Presley, Kellen and Kendall. He was
predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Johnson.

     Friends will be welcomed to Lawrence's Memorial Service on Saturday, April
16, at 11:30 a.m. until service begins at noon at the GEORGE P. KALAS
FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment
Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
