

John Dwarshuis, a 44-year resident of Crofton, died at home June 13, 2010, with
his wife and family by his side.
He was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., where he attended Ebenezer Christian
School for 10 years. In 1939, he moved to Washington, D.C. He graduated from
McKinley Tech High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving four years on the Mine Sweeper during
the D-Day Invasion. Mr. Dwarshuis retired from ATT after 37 years. He was a
Charter Member of Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church.
He married his wife, Rosa Martin Dwarshuis on Sept. 12, 1947, and they lived a
long, happy life together.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Dwarshuis; and sister, Laverne
Lampes.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Martin Dwarshuis; children, John Martin
Dwarshuis of Pasadena and F. Martin Dwarshuis of Gambrills; grandchildren,
Katie Elmer, Andrew Dwarshuis, Michael Dwarshuis, Melissa Cox and Jeremy
Dwarshuis; great-grandchildren ("Pa Pa John") Markie, Mason, Kayla, Cameron,
Summer, Quinlan, Brayland, Julieanna, Sabrina and Savanah; sister, Beatrice
Enfield, Peter Enfield and Mary Ellen Dwarshuis of Washington State; and many
nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 at Prince of Peace
Presbyterian Church, 1657 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, followed by a memorial
gathering at the family's home. Interment private.
