     JAMES DRISCOLL FLANAGAN James Driscoll Flanagan of Dunkirk, MD,
died peacefully on July 26, 2011, at home surrounded by love. He was born in
Passaic, NJ. on February 15, 1929 to Veronica and Edward Flanagan, the second
of three sons. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert and his
beloved wife, Mary Margaret.

     After spending his first five years in Lyndhurst, NJ. his family moved to Mt.
Rainier, MD. Immediately after graduating from
McKinley Tech High School in
1946, Jim joined the Army stationed at Sugamo Prison in Japan. Upon returning to
the US, he attended and graduated from Maryland University in 1952. He worked
for Melpar and Erco before beginning a 42 year career at Johns Hopkins
University's, Applied Physics Laboratory. Initially as a missile flight conductor and
later as a program manager and standard missile project engineer, a position which
he held until retirement in 1995.

     Most of those years were spent in the MD area; however, from 1983 - 1987
he was the Lab Representative at Port Hueneme, CA. He is survived by his wife,
Theresa Barnard Flanagan; his children Jeanne Marie Patton, Eric Frendach
(Sharon), Angela McNerney (Patrick), Stephen Frendach and Katherine Erly
(John). He was a loving grandfather to Cindy Patton, Rebecca Loiacono, Rachel
Patton, Pamela Frendach, Erica Frendach, Shane Frendach, Paul James Frendach,
Timothy McNerney, Mary Kate McNerney, Payge Erly, Brooke Erly, Luke Erly
and Liam Erly.

     Survivors also include his brother, Rev. Edward Flanagan, O.F.M., a friar at
the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C. Being raised with his first cousins
for several years in New Jersey, Jim sustained a deep love for The Eustaces, The
Connors, The O'Briens and their families that spanned many years.

     The family will receive friends for visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on
Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Covenant Community of Jesus the Good
Shepherd, 1601 W. Mt. Harmony Road, Owings, MD., immediately followed by a
Mass of Christian Burial.

     Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send memorial
