Isabelle Rose Oliver, "Belle", "Izzy", 88, a resident of Edgewater since 1951
and previously of Washington, D.C., Vienna and Langley Park, died March 4 at
Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Warrenton, Va., and graduated from McKinley
High School. She was employed by the federal government for over 34 years, by
NASA for over 16 years and by the FHA for 18 years, working until the age of 82.
Over the years, she attended tap dancing classes with her parents on Friday nights,
and was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, and took real estate
courses in her fifties. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic
Church and enjoyed spending time with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Oliver, whom she
married in 1940 and who died in 1989.
She is survived by two sons, James D. Oliver and wife Donna, and Michael S.
Oliver (Butch) and wife Rebecca, all of Edgewater; one granddaughter whom she
raised, Melody A. Barker of Wilkesboro, N.C.; seven other grandchildren, Mike,
Stephanie, Amy, Jenny, Beth, Tonya and J.D.; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 7 at
the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8
at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis.
Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may me made to Anne Arundel Medical Center or the American
