Geraldine Helen Acors Ryan, 78, who worked as a secretary before marrying and becoming a homemaker, died of cancer Oct.
24 at Powhatan Nursing Home in Falls Church.
She was born in Washington and graduated from  McKinley Technology High School in 1947. She took courses at the Corcoran
School of Art.
She worked as a secretary at Southern Wholesalers after graduating from high school and subsequently as a secretary at the
Justice Department. On one occasion, she met then-Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
She moved to Arlington County in 1956 and married Frank Ryan in 1961.
She was a member of the Arlington County Happy Hearts, a social group, and the county's walking group. She was a chaplain of
the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 139. She traveled often with Arlington County Senior Adult Travel, including on a trip
to Ireland last year.
Her husband died in 2002.
Survivors include two stepchildren, Kevin F. Ryan of Gulfport, Fla., and Angela E. Ryan of Livonia, Mich.
