George John McCloud

GEORGE JOHN McCLOUD (Age 94)

A former marketing manager at Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company,
died after a brief illness November 20, 2010 at The Virginian in Fairfax, VA.
McCloud, born in Baltimore, MD on January 31, 1916, moved to Northwest
Washington, DC, as an infant and remained a Washingtonian and, later, a
Northern Virginia resident throughout his life.

He graduated from
McKinley Tech High School and attended Georgetown
University Foreign Service School in Washington.

He served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following the war,
McCloud began working for C & P Telephone Company. He was a Bell System
Pioneer. He retired from C & P after 39 years of service.

McCloud was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Falls Church. He
was a member of the Arimatheans, serving the celebrants and bereaved families at
funeral Masses held at Ft. Myer. McCloud was also an active volunteer at the
homeless shelter in Bailey's Cross Roads.

Survivors include his wife, Anna V. McCloud of Fairfax; four children, Mary K.
McCloud of Heathsville, VA, Patrick McCloud and his wife, Victoria of
Voorhees, NJ, Anne M. Boyle and her husband, Steve of Denver, CO and
Maureen M. Roberts and her husband, Arthur of Heathsville, VA; step-children,
Patsy and Richard Cornwell of South Pleasant, SC, James and Elizabeth Donahue
of Simsbury, CT and John Thomas Donahue of East Hampton, CT; 21
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. McCloud was pre-deceased by his son,
Peter L. McCloud, by his first wife and the mother of his children, Miriam
Frances McGrath McCloud, infant son, George Patrick McCloud and step-son,
Richard Dennis Donahue.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
Falls Church, VA. A Memorial Mass wll be held at St. Anthony's Church, Falls
Church, VA on Monday, November 29 at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements handled by
National Funeral Home.
