BARBARA LEE SPITTLE MILSTEAD
Passed away Friday, February 18, 2011. She was born on May 28, 1925 in
Washington, DC. She was the widow of her high school sweetheart, Emmett D.
Milstead, Jr., a Navy veteran of World War II, whom she married in 1944.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Lillian, and brother,
Barry. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Simek of Omaha, and her daughters,
Linda Miller and Jill Abell. Loving grandmother to Janet, Randy, Courtney,
Danny, Allison, and Andrew. Beloved great-grandmother "G.G." to Brett, Kayla,
Jordan, Brady, Riley, Blair, Emma, Brooke, Brice, Kyle, Connor and Kaiden.
Attended McKinley Tech and was a member of the "Techites" sorority.
Enjoyed spending time in her Garden Club, volunteering at St. Andrews Lutheran
Church, and loved to travel.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Collins Funeral
Home 500 University Blvd. W, Silver Spring. Wednesday there will be a viewing
at Collins Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a noon burial at Gate of
Heaven on Georgia Ave.
