Arthur L. Roe, 80, a retired master electrician, died of emphysema May 12 at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham. He was a longtime
Riverdale resident.
Mr. Roe was born in Cordova, Md., and moved to the District as a child. He attended
McKinley High School and worked in the Government
Printing Office shortly before joining the Navy during World War II. He served in the South Pacific.
After the war, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice before becoming a master electrician with the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 26. He was a union electrician on numerous jobs in the area, including Washington's
Metro system. He retired in 1985.

In addition to his union membership, he was a member of Almas Temple, the American Legion and Lebanon Lodge. He was a
scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 731 and a volunteer coach for the Prince George's County Boys and Girls Club. In his retirement years, he
enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Constance V. Roe of Riverdale; five children, William A. Roe of Bowie, Janet Gardiner of Riverdale,
Jerri Roe of Adelphi, Jennie Bobick of Cheverly and Rhett Roe of Bowie; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Arthur L. Roe
