FRANCES B. WOODSON
Mother and teacher, dies at 85

Frances B. Woodson (age 85) of Arlington, Virginia,
beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph Woodson, passed
away in her home November 10, 2012 of
cardiovascular disease. Frances will be greatly missed
by all who knew her. Her compassion, friendly
attitude and smile greeted all she met; her outgoing
nature was infectious and memorable.

Frances was born and raised in NE Washington, D.C. A graduate of
McKinley
High School,
she received her B.A. from the University of Maryland. During
World War II Frances worked for the U.S. Geologic Survey and later made a
career as a dedicated teacher before becoming a devoted wife and mother.

Her husband of 32 years, Dr. Joseph B. Woodson, died in 1989 after an 18 years
battle with Parkinson's disease. In later life, Frances enjoyed gardening and playing
bridge. Her real joy though was her grandchildren and seeing them grow into
successful adults. Her six year old grandson described her as the "bestest
grandmother forever."

Frances is survived by her son Glenn Woodson, daughter Jane deBrujn, and five
grandchildren: Lauren, Spencer, Shelby, Sierra and Sterling. A memorial service
will be held on March 22, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
