| Timothy Michael Miller, 49, a furniture salesman, died Jan. 3 at his Rockville home, several days after undergoing back surgery. The cause of death is under investigation by the Maryland medical examiner's office. |

| Mr. Miller had worked as a salesman for Scan Furniture since 2002, and previously was a salesman at Champion Billiards and Barstools. From 1981 until 1999, he worked in the mailroom at The Washington Post. |

| He was born in Takoma Park. He attended what is now St. John's College High School in Washington and graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and a past member of the International Typographical Union. He had lived in Rockville since 1976. |

| Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Merle Miller of Rockville; three children, Timothy M. Miller Jr. of Wheeling, W.Va., Melinda L. Miller of Germantown and Kathryn A. Miller of Rockville; his parents, Norman and Shirley Miller of Rockville; four siblings, John R. Miller of Deale, Shirley T. Miller of Beltsville, Sharon M. Miller of Hyattsville and Michael S. Miller of Silver Spring; and a granddaughter. |
