

JOSEPH GUY McCRONE, JR.
Joseph Guy McCrone, Jr. of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Silver Spring, MD
died at his home on Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was 91.
He was born February 21, 1919 in Washington, DC where he attended St.
Johns College High School and briefly worked for the Federal Government and
later began his career with the Potomac Electric Power Company. At the outbreak
of World War II he enlisted in the US Navy and served in duty stations in the
United States and the European Theater where he participated in the D-Day
invasion at Normandy. After the war, he returned to work at Pepco working at the
Benning Road Station and the Control Center where he retired after 39 years of
service.
He was a member of the Masons and the American Legion for over 50 years.
His marriage to Maxine B. McCrone ended in divorce.
In 1989 after 70 years in the Washington, DC area he relocated to Sevierville,
TN.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet McCrone Connell; his
parents, Joseph and Margaret McCrone and his sisters, Magaret, Claudia, Florence
and Dorothy.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph G. McCrone III and Dennis A. McCrone
(Sandra); his grandsons, Steven Connell, Patrick Connell, Michael Connell and
Christopher McCrone; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his
nieces, Margaret Fanning, Joyce Hargraves (Jim) and his nephew, Kenneth
Proctor (Kathy). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held February 5, 2011 at Shiloh Cemetery.
