

Fred T. Barstow, of Chester, died December 27 at Johns Hopkins University
Hospital.
He was born in Delaware, to the late Frederick T. and Mary E. Crane
Barstow, and grew up in Washington, D.C. He attended Linten Hall in Manassas,
Va. and went on to attend St. John's High School in D.C. Fred began his career
working for T.W. Perry Oil Company, and later Riggins Oil Company as a
technician. In the early 1980s, he established Fred T. Barlow Inc., a heating and
air conditioning company serving central Maryland.
Fred enjoyed playing the piano. He was also a member of the Kent Island
Yacht Club, the American Legion in Queenstown, the ELKS in Annapolis, St.
Christopher's Catholic Church, and the Air Conditioning Contractors of America
(ACCA).
He is survived by his wife, Gloria B. Barstow of Chester; four daughters,
Diane M. Barstow of Annapolis, Donna Williams of Spring, Texas, Debbie Plack
of Crofton, and Patti Rhodes of Roy, Utah; two sons, Michael Barstow of
Gettysburg, Pa. and Sean Johnson of Norfolk, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great
grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday,
December 30 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock
Road, Chester, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday,
December 31. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American
