| Brian Joseph McHugh, 60, a native Washingtonian and retired National Park Service ranger, died May 28 at his home in Medina, Ohio, after a heart attack. |
|
|
| Mr. McHugh was a 1964 graduate of St. John's College High School and played on the school's city championship football team. He was a 1969 graduate of the University of Maryland, where he was president of the Phi Sigma Kappa social fraternity. |
|
|
| After Army service, he joined the National Park Service and worked at Canyonlands National Park in Utah and Chaco Culture National Historic Park in New Mexico. He retired about two years ago as head ranger at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. |

| Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jane Broderick McHugh of Medina; four daughters, Molly McHugh, Kate Ryan and Caroline McHugh, all of Medina, and Beth McHugh of Cleveland; his mother, Virginia McHugh of Potomac; two brothers, Thomas McHugh of York, Maine, and Joe McHugh of Gaithersburg; and a granddaughter. |
