     Dr. Berton Timothy Schaeffer Sr., 75, of Baldwin passed away Monday,
Nov. 7, 2011, at his residence.

     The eldest child of the late Raymond Timothy Schaeffer and Enid "Pat" Ida
Schaeffer was born April 25, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minn.

     As a child, Tim spent time in Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. He
attended
St. Johns College High School in Washington, D.C. A graduate and
class president of Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1962, Tim
completed his residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Grady Memorial
Hospital in Atlanta, and the Naval Medicine Center in San Diego.

     Tim served in the Navy and was stationed in the Phillipines (1963-1964) and
Taiwan (1969-1971). He was a colonel in the Air Force. Tim and his wife Barbara
lived in Gainesville and now reside in Baldwin. Tim was a pathologist at Union
General Hospital in Blairsville and has been practicing medicine for 50 years. He is
predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Ellen.

     He is survived by his wife of the home, Barbara Moore Schaeffer; his sister,
Patrica Shenton and her husband Scott of Indiatlantic, Fla.; children, Sandra and
husband Ryan Lawrence of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada; Berton and
wife Sasha of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Michael and wife Jennifer of Clermont, Fla.;
Christine Humble and husband Jeff of Lakewood, Ohio; Nicole and Arthur
Foelsche of Montpelier, Vt.; and Paul of Rocky River, Ohio; stepchildren, Greg
Kimsey and Gail of Clarkesville; Berrong Kimsey and Lori of Cleveland; and
Keith Kimsey and Adriana of Leesburg, Va.; and 13 grandchildren.

     Funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest
Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Sydney Magill-Lindquist. The
family will receive friends afterward at their home.

     The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the
funeral home by 12:15 p.m.: Berton T. Schaeffer Jr., Michael Schaeffer, Paul
Schaeffer, Greg Kimsey, Berrong Kimsey, Keith Kimsey, Jeffrey Humble and
Arthur Foelsche.

     The family will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday,
Nov. 9, 2011, from 7-9 p.m.

     Flowers are to be omitted. Memorials may be made to the Veteran of Foreign
Wars Post of your choice in memory of Dr. Berton Schaeffer Sr.

     Interment will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Acree-Davis Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements for Dr. Berton Schaeffer Sr.
