Wanda Rothstein Helm

Wanda R. Helm, 75, who had worked part-time as an assistant membership coordinator for the Association of Practicing Psychologists since
1998, died Oct. 4 at Sibley Memorial Hospital of complications after a fall at her home last month.

Ms. Helm worked at the National Bank of Washington from 1952 to 1988, becoming an information technology officer.

A native of Zagreb, Croatia, Wanda Rothstein moved to Washington in 1950 and was a 1952 graduate of
Roosevelt High School. She
received a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1956. She was fluent in Croatian, Italian, French
and English.

She volunteered for the Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place, an outreach program in Washington.

Her marriage to Geoffrey P. Gwaltney ended in divorce.

Survivors include her partner of 35 years, Sandra Kyle of Washington; a husband from whom she had been separated since 1974, John A.
Helm of Bethesda; a daughter from her first marriage, Lisa Cook of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
