

VIRGINIA JOY GROVES Born March 13, 1922 in Washington, DC, "Ginnie"
died on Monday, September 20, 2010 in Mount Dora, Florida.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia Cannon, Carole Groves, Joy Carter, and
son, Doug Groves; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one
great-great-grandson and her brother, Bernard Joy.
Virginia was raised in Washington, DC by parents B. Frank Joy and Helen S.
Morris Joy. She attended Roosevelt High School and married the love of her
life, Ellwood "Mike" Groves on April 15, 1944. They remained married until his
death in 2008.
She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church in Silver Spring and
Chestertown, Maryland. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and will
be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held for her October 1, 2010 at Garden of Life
Chapel, Waterman Village, Mount Dora, Florida 32757.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's
Hospital or Red Cross.
