Vincent Pizzi

    Vincent "Vince" Pizzi, 87, of Easton and formerly of College Park, died
November 2 at Memorial Hospital at Easton.

    He was born July 2, 1924, in Takoma Park, the son of the late Verano and
Brigida Pizzi. He attended
Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC.

    He served in World War II in the 42nd Infantry (Rainbow) Division. Vince
found his true calling in the construction industry. After retiring as Senior Project
Manager for P.F. Obrecht in Baltimore, he consulted on various construction
projects.

    Among his many memberships were the VFW, American Legion, National
VP of the Rainbow Division and President of the D.C. Chapter of the Rainbow
Division. He was the recipient of the "Tradition Continues Award", presented by
the US Field Artillery Association.

    He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dorothy Jane
Wingrove, whom he married Nov. 9, 1946 and who died in April 2000. He is
survived by three children, Vernon Pizzi and his wife Sue of Davidsonville,
Tricia and her husband John Green of Swan Point, and Barbie and her husband
Dr. Gordon Calvert, of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Julie Pizzi Couch(Bill),
David Pizzi (Carrie), Joe Pizzi, Alyson Green Croft (Marshal), John Green
(Meredith), Brittany Green, Cristina Calvert, Jessica Calvert and Drew Calvert;
and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Couch, Patrick Couch, Susie Pizzi and
Wingrove Croft.

    Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 and from 9 to 10
a.m. on Monday, November 7 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral
Home, P.A., Easton.

    A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7
at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton. Interment will be at Oxford
Cemetery.
