Thomas Gilbert Lopp

     Thomas Gilbert Lopp, born on June 4, 1926 in Seattle, WA to Dwight and
Alice Lopp, passed away on July 12, 2011 in Washington, DC at the age of 85.
He was the eldest of five children.

     After he graduated from
Roosevelt High School in 1944, he enlisted in the
U.S. Army and served in the Guam/Saipan theater.

     During Tom's early years, his summers included frequent fishing and
clamming adventures near Rolling Bay on Bainbridge Island and overnight hikes
in the Cascades with his twin brothers.

     After WWII Tom enjoyed spending time at his property on Shaw and
traveled extensively, including several visits to the Eskimo village of Wales,
Alaska, where his father was born and raised.

     Tom earned a BS Degree in Fisheries Science from the University of
Washington. He subsequently moved to Washington, DC, where he worked for
the U.S. Tariff Commission until his retirement in 1981.

     Tom is survived by brothers, Don (Joan) and Ron (Elaine); sister, Ann
(Dick) Stemwell; and five nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by sister, Kathleen (Verbeck) Smith. There will
be a family celebration of Tom's life at a later date.
