ROSENDORF, Dr. Stanley Bernard, of Deltaville, 84,was
beckoned to heaven on June 18, 2011 to join his wife, the
love of his life for 57 years, Anne Dunand "Nanette"
Rosendorf who passed away June 11, 2011. Stan was born
January 22, 1927, an only child, to Shirley Weinstein
Rosendorf and Myer Charles "Mike" Rosendorf of
Washington, D.C.
At the age of 15, he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and
then attended the University of Maryland until getting drafted into the Army
upon turning 18. After training at Fort Rucker and serving at Camp Blanding and
the Pentagon, he returned to College Park to finish his degree.
He went on to medical school at George Washington University, graduating
third in his class of 1953, while also completing a Master's degree in biology.
After marrying in '54, the newlyweds moved to Rochester, MN for a
neurosurgery residency at the Mayo Clinic before choosing OB/GYN as his
specialty and moving to Baltimore to practice. Dr. Rosendorf was a founding
member of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and held a variety of medical
board positions there over the years. He delivered over 2500 babies in his career.
Everyone that knew him, loved him, especially his patients and nurses.
It was in Baltimore that Stan and Nanette raised their two children, Michael
Charles Rosendorf of Baltimore and Carole Marie Montgomery of Richmond.
Stan was a recreational pilot, an avid sailor and animal lover. In addition, he
raised and showed tropical fish and was a founding board member of the
National Aquarium in Baltimore.
"Pappy" cherished his family more than anything else in life, which later
included two greatly adored grandchildren, Jack Montgomery and Travis
Montgomery of Richmond.
He retired to his treasured "Ropeyarn" on the Piankatank River where so
many special memories were made.
By request, remains will be cremated, and a joint celebration of life for Stan
and Nanette will be held at Ropeyarn. Donations in his honor can be made to the
