

Ralph B. Rothstein, dental lab administrator

Ralph B. Rothstein, 86, a longtime administrator of a family dental laboratory in
Washington, died Dec. 19 of renal cancer at his home in Chevy Chase.
After World War II, Mr. Rothstein began working full-time at his father's
Rothstein Dental Laboratories, which was incorporated in 1938. He had grown
up working for the firm, which provided many pro bono services to charitable
organizations.
He worked at the laboratory until his retirement in 1992.
Ralph Burton Rothstein was born in Washington and graduated from Theodore
Roosevelt High School in 1940.
He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from George
Washington University in 1948.
During World War II, he served in the Army and was posted to the old Central
Dental Laboratory at Fort McPherson, Ga
One of Mr. Rothstein's philanthropic interests was supporting the expansion of
the dental school at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
He was a member of Adas Israel Congregation in Washington and the D.C.
Dental Society.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bette Miller Rothstein of Chevy Chase;
four children, Randy Rothstein, Audrey Rothstein and Russell Rothstein, all of
Potomac, and Robin Berman of Vienna; a sister, Miriam Feldman of Chevy
Chase; a brother, Irving Rothstein of Rockville; 13 grandchildren; and two
great-granddaughters.
