Pearl Silverman Gertler, 86, a homemaker, died Sept. 12 at her daughter's home in Pepperell, Mass. The cause of death was
listed as failure to thrive.
She was born in Washington, the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and worked briefly as
a secretary. She married Morton Gertler in 1940 and lived in the Washington area for more than 50 years.
She and her husband moved from Silver Spring to Boca Raton, Fla., in 1975 after he retired from the Navy's David Taylor Model
Basin.
After her husband died in 2004, she moved to Pepperell to live with her daughter.
Survivors include three children, Donna Gertler of Pepperell, Marilyn Shnider of Kfar Saba, Israel, and Dr. Alan Gertler of
Birmingham, Ala. and four grandchildren.
