Died October 27, 2010 at her home in St. Leonard, Maryland, of cancer. She was born in Washington, DC, in 1926, the daughter of Iris K. and Samuel Del Vecchio.
She attended Roosevelt High School and George Washington University. She was married to Angelo D. Valenza for 63 years, until his death in January. Angie and Marie had three children, John Michael, who died in 1970, Kathryn V. Wood (Gary), of Lusby, MD, and Susan Marie, of Bethesda, MD, and one granddaughter, Abby Wood, of Washington, DC. Marie is also survived by her sister, Claire Johnston, and many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Jane Reichert and Iris Cotter, preceded her in death.
Marie was a lover of books, knowledge, nature, and the arts.
She will be dearly missed by family and friends with whom she eagerly shared her interests.
