Janet Major Eldrige Wesner

Janet E. Wesner, 94, a freelance artist who painted landscapes and family
coats-of-arms in oils and watercolors, died Sept. 29 at Wilson Health Care
Center at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg.
She had cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, said her daughter
Sandi Atkinson.
In the late 1930s, before her marriage, Mrs. Wesner was an Agriculture
Department artist, working in the crop insurance unit.
Janet Major Eldridge was born in Washington and graduated from
Roosevelt High School. She then studied at the Corcoran School of Art from
1935 to 1937. She lived in Chevy Chase for many years.
Her husband, Charles Wesner, died in 1993 after 51 years of marriage.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Jackson of Gaithersburg, Sandi
Atkinson of Derwood and Marjorie Wesner of Vashon Island, Wash.; four
grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
