Evelyn Golladay, kennel owner

    Evelyn Golladay, who owned and operated Trails End Kennels in White Oak
for three decades, died Jan. 14 at the ManorCare Health Services nursing home
in Potomac. She was 93 and had pneumonia.    

    Mrs. Golladay was an accomplished dog breeder and groomer. She and her
husband, Donald E. Golladay Sr., opened their kennel business in 1955. After he
died in 1962, she continued running the business until retiring in the mid-1980s.

    Evelyn Chamberlain was born in Putnam, Ala., and grew up in Washington.
She graduated from the District's
Roosevelt High School and studied business
and secretarial skills at Strayer College.

    She was a member of the Washington Poodle Club and the American Kennel
Club.

   Her son Donald E. Golladay Jr. died in 2006.

   Survivors include three children, Frederick Golladay of Silver Spring, Gary
Golladay of Piney Point and Sandra L. Wack of Gaithersburg; 15 grandchildren;
and 18 great-grandchildren.
