| Bertha P. Greenich, 88, who worked as an administrative assistant with the National Bureau of Standards, died of complications of cancer Sept. 5 at her home at Brighton Gardens of Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda. |
|
|
| Ms. Greenich, who was known as Bertie, was born in the family home in Washington. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1936 and began working for the federal government. |
|
| After 35 years, she retired in 1971 from what is now the National Institute of Standards and Technology. |
|
|
| She enjoyed traveling by car to the Pocono Mountains. She was active in several ballroom dancing societies throughout her life and was known for her gardening prowess. |
|
|
| "She loved her clothes and her jewelry," said a nephew, Anthony Sintetos, adding that his aunt took pride in her appearance. |
|
|
| Her marriage to George Greenich ended in divorce. |
|
| Survivors include a sister, Shea Sintetos of Bethesda; and a brother, Peter Sintetos of Silver Spring. |
