Avron Herbert Maser

     Avron Maser, 88, a physician who had an obstetrics-gynecology practice in
Chevy Chase for many years, died Oct. 5 at his home in Bethesda.
He had pneumonia, said his son, Peter Maser.

     Avron Herbert Maser was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved with his
family to Washington when he was 3. He was a graduate of
Roosevelt High
School.
Immediately after graduating from the University of Maryland in 1944,
he entered the Army and was sent to the Philippines, where he was wounded in
combat. After recovering, he joined the Army Medical Corps.
His Army experiences led him to study medicine, and he graduated from the
University of Vermont’s medical school in 1952.
After an internship and residency in Baltimore, Dr. Maser opened a medical
office in Bethesda. He moved his practice to Chevy Chase in 1963. He retired in
1996.

     Dr. Maser was an attending physician at Washington Hospital Center and
had medical privileges at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville and Holy
Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.

     He was a member of the Woodmont Country Club, and he enjoyed golf.

     Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Goldwater Maser of Bethesda;
two children, Dr. Karen Maser of Bethesda and Peter Maser of Potomac; and
two grandchildren.
