Thomas Joseph O'Donnell III, 78, who retired in 1999 as owner and president of Waggaman-Brawner Realty, one of the area's
largest managers of rental property, died Oct. 28 at the Brighton Gardens seniors home in Bethesda. He had pancreatic cancer.
Mr. O'Donnell began his career doing accounting work for a building company, Thomas H. Ryan, which he eventually bought.
He owned Waggaman-Brawner for more than 15 years.
He was born in Fort Worth and raised in Washington, where he was a 1948 graduate of Gonzaga College High School. He was
a graduate of Benjamin Franklin University, where he also received a master's degree in accounting. He was a Navy veteran of
the Korean War.
Mr. O'Donnell, a Bethesda resident, was a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Washington.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joan Nolan O'Donnell of Bethesda; four sons, Brian O'Donnell of West Palm Beach, Fla.,
Ted O'Donnell of Salisbury, Md., Joe O'Donnell of Fairfax County and Matthew O'Donnell of Herndon; a brother; 11
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
